马尔科斯·波扎利斯为希腊独立战争(1821-1829)中的英雄, 参加早期反对奥斯曼帝国统治的活动, 1823年他在独立战争中阵亡。他的弟弟在战争中幸存，成为希腊王国的将军和议员，他的儿子三次出任希腊国防部长。
Markos Botsaris (Greek: Μάρκος Μπότσαρης, c. 1788 – 21 August 1823) was a Souliote captain and a hero of the War of Greek Independence. At the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence, he distinguished himself by his courage, tenacity and skill as a partisan leader in the fighting in western Greece, and was conspicuous in the defence of Missolonghi during the first siege of the city (1822–1823). On the night of 21 August 1823 he led the celebrated attack on Karpenisi by 350 Souliots, against around 1,000 Ottoman troops who formed the vanguard of the army with which Mustai Pasha was advancing to reinforce the besiegers. Botsaris managed to take Mustai Pasha as a prisoner during the raid, but he was shot in the head and killed in battle. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markos_Botsaris)

苏醒来(或重生)的希腊, 是在马尔科斯·波扎利斯坟茔顶部的雕塑, 是法国雕刻家皮埃尔·让·大卫的作品。
Reviving Greece, the sculpture on top of the Tomb of Markos Botsaris in Missolonghi, is a monument created by French sculptor Pierre Jean David d'Angers. Victor Hugo once said of the sculpture, "It is difficult to see anything more beautiful in the world; this statue joins the grandeur of Pheidias to the expressive manner of Puget."
正确地戳为迈索隆吉翁（英语：Missolonghi or Messolonghi, 希腊语：Μεσολόγγι）。希腊独立战争期间，该地曾为起义军总部。(http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/迈索隆吉翁)

雅典或塞萨洛尼基（希腊语：Θεσσαλονίκη）地戳是不正确。在1926年4月24日这张邮票在迈索隆吉翁的邮局出售, 5月11日在其他希腊邮局出售。在1927年6月30日邮票被撤售。

乔治·戈登·拜伦，第六代拜伦男爵（George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron，1788年1月22日英國伦敦－1824年4月19日希腊），英国诗人、作家，引領風騷的浪漫主义文學泰斗。世襲男爵，人稱「拜倫勳爵」（Lord Byron）。1824年4月19日，拜伦在支持希腊人民独立战争的过程中不幸患病，病逝于迈索隆吉翁。(http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/乔治·戈登·拜伦)

拜伦在马尔科斯·波扎利斯坟茔(在雕塑完成之前)前面立下誓言支持希腊人民独立。

希腊邮票米洛的维纳斯(Vénus de Milo)我有五张。他们价比另一张买价低(US$1025)。他们有不同的邮戳。伪戳标记是多张同样的邮戳。
