During the coronation, the monarch bears the sceptre with the cross in the right hand, representing the monarch’s temporal power under God. In 1905, the Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross was redesigned to incorporate the Great Star of Africa, 別名「大非洲之星」. It is the second largest flawless cut diamond in the world and weighs 530 carats (530克拉). This and the Second Star of Africa of 317 carats (in the Imperial State Crown) were cut from the celebrated Cullinan Diamond (卡利南鑽石), the largest diamond ever found.
