Benjamin Franklin National Memorial (富兰克林纪念馆) — located in the rotunda of The Franklin Institute (富兰克林科技馆) in Philadelphia (費城), Pennsylvania — features a colossal seated statue of Benjamin Franklin (纪念馆正厅富兰克林大理石坐像). The 20-foot (6.1 m) high memorial, sculpted by James Earle Fraser between 1906 and 1911, honors the writer, inventor and American statesman. The statue weighs 27 tons and sits on a 83 ton pedestal of white Seravezza marble. The statue is the focal piece of the memorial hall, designed by John T. Windrim after the Pantheon, dedicated in 1938. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Franklin_National_Memorial) |
